Henry Cavill is the Man of Steel
Henry Cavill is on a 5000 calorie a day diet and working out for two and a half hours daily so that he can bulk up to play Superman in the upcoming film Man of Steel directed by Zack Snyder. He is eating protein first, then adding a little carbs at a time to keep his hunger levels up. Cavill is super psyched to put on the suit over his "Super" sculpted new body. He says when he looks in the mirror he wants to be serious, but he just laughs at the prospect of HIM being Superman. He says it is so cool.
This twenty eight year old is best known for his role in The Tudors, but I believe heads will definitely turn when he suits up as Superman. His workout and hefty diet have made him into a new man. I wonder though what a diet of 5000 calories does to a person. I mean the average healthy man eats about 2000 calories a day. What happens when you stop filming and working out? How does your body respond to that kind of treatment?
I checked out a body building website that had a sample menu for a 5000 calorie meal plan. It included 38 ounces of meat and cheese, 4 1/2 cups of milk and yogurt, 4 1/2 cups of barley, rice and cold cereal, crackers, 3 whole pitas, multiple cups of fruit and juice, 161 grams of protein powder, 4 cups of cauliflower, 4 cups of vegetable soup, nuts and more. How can one person consume this much food in a single day? This sounds like food for a family of four to me.
Well, regardless of his diet, I am sure Henry will look the part when he hits the big screen. Another plus for the movie is he is cast opposite greats such as Kevin Costner, Amy Adams, Russel Crowe and one of my all time favorites Diane Lane. The film is set to "fly" into theatres in mid December of 2012.
